Lonerider Beer – Magnificent 77
We recently got around to enjoying our can of Lonerider Magnificent 77. I will let the description from the site give you the raw details about the beer before i give you our thoughts.
The “Magnificent 77″ is an IPA crafted with 77 hop varieties to create a one of a kind hop character. Featuring hops from 7 countries (US, UK, AU, NZ, GER, CZECH, SLOVENIA), different varieties are blended together to create a unique flavor for each of the 7 hop additions during the 77 minute boil. After fermentation, it is dry hopped by adding a different variety each day for 7 days, followed by 14 more varieties for an additional 7 days. Coming in at 7.7% ABV with 77 IBU’s, Magnificent 77 is a flavorful IPA.
As always here is a snippet of our conversation about the beer.
Tom: As expected since it’s chocked full of different hops, no single hop aroma is dominant on the nose. There’s some subtle floral and piney notes that emerge when the beer warms up. On the palate, there’s a great balance with a prominent bitterness offset by a pleasant toasty quality. Nice lengthy finish and very drinkable for a 7.7% beer.
Mike: Damnit…
Tom: What?
Mike: That was f*cking awesome and I want more.
Barry Badrinath: I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it!
There you have it. We give Magnificent 77 two big thumbs up or whatever our rating system is these days. Last time I was at Sam’s (a few days ago) I saw a few cans left after I grabbed another one myself.
